Athletics and Swimming Super Series Results
Friday March 5 2010
As both the Super Series
for Athletics and Swimming come to a close for
season 2009/10 our athletes are still putting in
some very strong
performances.
Our Swimmers finished off
their Super Series with Summer Sensation at
Challenge Stadium and while the number of PBs
produced were a little down
compared to what we usually see from our
swimmers, we still had Alexa De Klerk PB in her
100m Breaststroke while
Luke Smith set 2 new best times in the 100
Freestyle and 200 IM.
Across the road at the WA
Athletics Stadium and it was a big night for our
track and field stars. Andrew Bannister set a
new Personal Best in his
200m, an event he has already qualified for
Nationals in. Connor Johnstone was less than
half a
second away from his
previous best in the 200m but tackled the 800m
for the very first time and finished very
strongly.
Hopefully its not the last
time we see Connor Tackle the 800m. We also saw
Acacia Gibbs on the track and tackle the 60m
dash. Well done Acacia,
hope to see you on the track a little more
often.
Peter Smith was his usual
self, smashing all that stood before him Pete
has pushed his chair exceptionally well in the
last 9
months as we have seen his
times reduce drastically. Pete is getting set
for Nationals and we are all very excited to see
how he can perform on the
big stage. Madison continues her long road back
from her operation 12 months ago with a
time in her 200m just 0.3
seconds outside her pre-operation best.
In the throws it seems like
Luther Frost-Barnes’s streak of consecutive
National Records has finally come to an end,
just
falling short of his
previous best and National Age Record. Peter
Smith threw very well and Jake Kavanagh won the
Kavanagh/Cavanagh battle as
Josh keeps getting closer and closer every week.
