Handcyclists Pass Halfway
Friday January 29 2010
As we pass the halfway
point of the Handcycling season and approaching
the National Series and its still James Ormerod
way out on top.
The boys were out at
Champion Lakes early Sunday morning 24th
January and while they beat the heat they didn’t
beat
the wind. Coming down
the back straight the guys had to fight a very
tough cross breeze and then turn directly into
it
and tackle a short
climb to finish off their laps.
Times were a little slower
than last time for most. Craig Parsons was the
standout, who despite the wind, blew his
previous
time away (no pun intended)
with a fantastic ride, averaging an impressive
26.2 km/h. James Ormerod the man everyone
is chasing this year
averaging 24 km/h flat.
Some of the boys will now
gear up for the opening round of the National
Handcycling Series which kicks off, the first
weekend of February in
Launceston. Doug Hannigan, Peter Allen and James
Ormerod will be tackling the best Australia
has to offer as they set
their sights towards Nationals in April.
