Wheelchair basketball is similar to able-bodied basketball, with minor variances on the rules. The main difference is that players are only allowed to push the wheels twice before having to dribble. It is played with the same size basketballs and same height ring as running basketball.
Wheelchair basketball is open to both able-bodied people and people with a disability; the national or international competition, however, requires only players with a disability to play.
Players are assigned points as their classification - 1, 2, 3, and 4 are the recognized classes, with 0.5 classes inbetween for those exceptional cases which do not fit exactly into one class, and the 4.5 category for the player with the least or minimal disability.
