2005 Sports Star Awards- 50 Years Celebrations

TheWheelchair Sports WA Association Annual Sports Awards dinner was held at the Government House Ballroom, Perth on Saturday 12th November 2005.

The night also celebrated 50 years of Wheelchair Sports WA.

The Awards were proudly sponsored by Healthway which along with Wheelchair Sports WA helps promote the "Be Active" message.

2005 Marked the first time Wheelchair Sports WA has honoured long service members with the introduction of Service Awards. 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40 and 50 years committed service were recognized.

ABC Sports Reporter Trevor Jenkins MC'd the evening and the Association was honoured to have special guests Neil Guard from Healthway, Ronnie Hurst from the Department Sport & Recreation, Jackie Thompson from Lotterywest, Dr Elizabeth Constable, Independent Member for Churchlands and Graham Edwards Federal Member for Cowan attending the evening.

The Association would like to both mention and recognise Carilyn Holmes for outstanding service to the Wheelchair Sports WA Association. Carilyn was recognised with Life Membership of the Association on the evening.

A big thank you to all who came along for the night and supported the Association and I think everyone would agree that a great night was had by all.
