There are four categories of classification for track athletes, ranging from T51 - T54.  Athletes classified as T51-T52 have disabilities affecting all four limbs, where as athletes classified as T53 – T54 have disabilities only affecting their lower limbs. 

“Racing chairs” are streamline in shape, having two rear wheels and a single front wheel.  The frames of the wheelchairs are designed to be aerodynamic.  Each racing chair is custom made to the specifications of individual athletes.   

The most famous track athlete in the World is Perth born Louise Sauvage.

Wheelchair Sports WA Track Training takes place on Thursdays 4.00pm – 6.00pm (Summer months only)  Burswood Casino Car Park, near the Children’s Playground.
