Interesting Facts
On the the 18th June 2001 Nigel fell three metres from an internal landing of a jobsite and broke his back at T12/L1. This caused him to become a permanent paraplegic.
Nigel got married in January 2002 and has since had a baby girl (Talia) who was born in August 2004.
Nigel was first introduced to Handcycling by his father in Deecmber 2002. He stated rising a hire bike from Wheelchair Sports WA.
"I found the freedom and the speed of cycling a great change from being confined to my wheelchair, and I have not looked back," Nigel Barley.
Nigel began competeing at a State and National Level soon after and now spreads his wings into the international arena.
Nigel is currently Australian National Champion and is working towards the Beijing Olympics.
