You don’t have to be in a wheelchair to play Wheelchair Sport.
The Association’s members are made up of people whose lives have, in some way, been touched by physical disability or by any condition that impairs coordination and mobility. These include those persons who have been impaired due to spinal injury, amputation, Cerebral Palsy and Spina Bifida.
The Wheelchair Sports WA Association (Inc.) is responsible for the management of all functions pertaining to wheelchair sport in Western Australia.Our athletes compete in State, National and International competition in 10 sports. The Association also runs events, training, and competitions for Wheelchair Sports members, to assist athletes be the best they can be.The Wheelchair Sports WA Association is represented in the National Wheelchair Basketball League and the National Wheelchair Rugby League.The Association also co-ordinates exciting recreational activities for those not so competitive minded.
Not only is sport a great rehabilitation from injury or illness, wheelchair sport also provides everyone with an opportunity to participate at a level that they wish. Meeting new friends, having fun and improved health and self-esteem are all benefits of being involved in wheelchair sport. If competing isn’t for you, Wheelchair Sports WA offers an extensive recreation program, a great way to be involved and meet new friends.Wheelchair Sports WA always welcomes new volunteers.
