Wheelchair Tennis is an exciting and skilful sport that requires the athlete to manoeuvre the wheelchair while in control of the racquet. Wheelchair tennis is played as per able-bodied rules with one major modification - the ball is allowed to bounce twice before a player must hit it. Players are eligible to play wheelchair tennis if they have a permanent mobility related disability.

Players are classified into either the quadriplegic division, for players with a disability in upper and lower limbs or the open division for all other players. In competition players are also seeded into categories according to the level of their skill.  

Tennis is a sport where wheelchair players can compete against able-bodied players as the rules are the same with the only difference being that the ball is allowed to bounce twice before you must hit it. . With the assistance of Tennis West we run several tennis tournament each year with the WA Open being the pinnacle. Wheelchair Sports also runs come and try events as well as training sessions with the help of Tennis West.

Specially designed wheelchairs are used to play tennis and provide fast motion around the court.

Athletes have an opportunity to play in over 100 tournaments year round on the NEC ITF Wheelchair Tennis Tour. Australia's own David Hall from Sydney is ranked #1  in the world.
